There are several ways to access Rigg Bay and Galloway House Gardens

1.Walk. Go to the harbour in the village and with the derelict Building in front of you, take the path on the right, go past the bench on your left and cottage on your right. Keep following the path along the shore line and go through 2 gates. As you go through the 2nd gate there may be cows grazing, so check before letting dogs off the lead at this gate. Follow the path and at the bird hide you can take the left hand path along the shore to Rigg Bay or the right hand path to go through Galloway house gardens. This path can be muddy in parts when wet. 20 minute walk

2.Walk. Leave the site by the rear gate by the pigs. Turn right and follow the lane. At the top of the lane turn right along the track (cattle may be in the fields to your left and right and may be going to milking along this path) (this track can be very muddy when wet) and proceed to the road and turn left and then follow the sign to the car park. Walk past the car park on your left and follow this path to the beach at Rigg Bay or deviate on any of the paths into the gardens. 15 minute walk

3.Drive or walk.  Go out of the main gate of the site, travel down to the end of main street and turn left into B7004. Take 2nd left and follow this lane and the signs to the car park, then see no 2 above. There is a £3 charge to park in the car park, no time restrictions. 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk
Galloway House Gardens
Gardens of Galloway House which are now managed by Galloway House Gardens Trust.  The gardens have a network of footpaths taking you though approx. 50 acres of woodland, wild flowers, rhododendrons, azaleas and a mature handkerchief tree. You can sit on a bench and take in the wonderful fragrance of the gardens around you, visit the burial site of the previous owners of the house and gardens, or walk through the woods opposite the beach, where you are likely to bump into some deer!
